Lopez X Construction measures every opening to 1/16 of an inch, and the manufacturer builds each window and door to fit it. Most of the time the existing frame stays in place. This is called pocket replacement.
A tear-out install removes the window down to the studs to fit a standard size. That means new framing, drywall patching, new trim and paint, and sometimes siding repair. Each of those adds cost, adds another trade to schedule, and keeps your house torn up for days or weeks.

How long does a window or door project take?
Most window and door projects take one day. Our crew installs 10 to 15 windows in a day because every window is built to fit its opening. Larger projects can take two days, depending on how many windows and doors you replace.
Do you work from the inside or the outside?
We work from both, about half and half. It depends on the window or door and how it was first installed. Omar tells you which side we'll work from at your estimate.
Will new windows or doors need new trim inside?
Nine times out of ten, no. We measure every opening to 1/16 of an inch, so the new window or door fits without replacing your trim. If your trim is damaged and you want it replaced, we can do that too.
How do I know I need new windows?
Fog between the panes, windows that are hard to operate, and air coming through the frame are the most common signs. Sashes that drop when you open them and warped frames are signs too.
When should I replace windows right away?
Replace windows soon if you have a known leak, a wet spot on the drywall under a window, or rotted wood in the frame. Water that gets into the wall causes more damage the longer it sits.
